ASTNA FORMS FOUNDATION TO SUPPORT CRITICAL CARE TRANSPORT RESEARCH AND EDUCATION

Aurora, Colorado (February 15, 2018). The Air & Surface Transport Nurses Association (ASTNA) announces the formation of the ASTNA Foundation to provide scholarships, charitable aid, and grants for research and educational projects to advance critical care transport nursing and the transport industry.
This announcement of the ASTNA Foundation is another milestone as ASTNA continues celebration of its 37th anniversary. The Foundation’s goals mirror those of the ASTNA mission statement, which is to advance the practice of transport nursing and enhance the quality of patient care through commitment to safety and education.
Tina Johnson, ASTNA President and President of the ASTNA Foundation, describes the reasons for establishing a foundation at this time, “This Foundation will allow ASTNA to continue to meet the needs of the professionals in our industry with a holistic approach to supporting mind, body, and soul for our members.”
As one of its first projects, the Foundation will be provide a grant to support publication of ASTNA’s legacy project to honor the more than 5,000 men and women who work, and have worked, as critical care transport providers, highlighting their dedication, professionalism, expertise, heroism, and sacrifice. Johnson notes, “This project will help us remember where we came from as we continue to move forward while building a better future with continual growth.”
According to Nikole Good, ASTNA Executive Director, “As the Foundation becomes more established, grants and scholarships will be available to ASTNA members to further research and educational endeavors that advance the profession.”
