Call for ASTNA Content Experts: Principal Editors for CORE CURRICULUM

ASTNA is seeking individuals to serve as principal editors for Critical Care Transport Core Curriculum. TheCore Curriculum is ASTNA’s flagship publication, represents the fundamental knowledge required for critical care transport professionals, and contributes to ASTNA’s mission to its members.

ASTNA recognizes the importance of establishing clear expectations and responsibilities for its volunteer contributors to ensure timely development and delivery of high-quality educational materials for its members. ASTNA also recognizes its responsibility to communicate to volunteer contributors these expectations and its responsibilities to contributors.

Principal editors for the Critical Care Transport Core Curriculum are responsible for the following tasks:

1.      Assist with planning content development, scope of project, standards for chapter development, publication schedule, and interim project deadlines;

2.      Recruit content experts as to serve as section editors and chapter authors;

3.      Communicate regularly with the ASTNA team and project team on project progress;

4.      Assist the ASTNA team, as needed, with communication to section editors and/or authors regarding content development, revisions, figures and/or illustrations, and scheduling/deadlines;

5.      Review all copy and illustrations to ensure they meet agreed-upon scope and established format and standards;

6.      Agree to meet project deadlines;

7.      Agree to and will sign the ASTNA assignment of rights/copyright forms; and
8.      Understand that this role is done on a volunteer basis unless specified otherwise by the ASTNA Board.

 

 

ASTNA is responsible for providing the following to the principal editors/section editors/authors:

1.      Clear instructions for the project;

2.      Clear deadlines for project publication/release;

3.      Information regarding delays or significant changes in the scope of the project;

4.      One complimentary copy of the product to each contributor for which the contribution was made

5.      On request, provide continuing education credits based on the specifics of the contribution

6.      On request, provide a letter to the contributor’s employer recognizing the contribution
7.      On request, provide mentoring from a member of the ASTNA Publications Committee

 

Project Schedule and Timelines

Project planning is scheduled to begin in April 2019, with a planning meeting scheduled in conjunction with the 2019 CCTMC conference. Publication date is planned for November 2020.

Qualifications

·         Current membership in ASTNA

·         Active involvement in critical care transport nursing

·         Experience with research, writing, and editing of education materials (eg, lectures, book chapters, presentations) for the critical care transport professional

·         Experience with volunteer and project management

·         Excellent communication skills  

·         Commitment to fulfilling all responsibilities listed above.

·         Commitment to participate in project teleconference meetings, as needed.
