ASTNA is pleased to announce publication of a new position statement on Disaster Response.
Critical care transport programs across the world are called upon to provide assistance during times of community need and are a foundation of initial disaster response in local communities. A culture of preparedness is necessary, as transport programs must be prepared to respond to disasters of all kinds. The statement also describes ASTNA’s views on education and training to addresses individual and system readiness and the importance of supporting providers following a disaster. A number of FEMA independent study courses related to disaster response and preparedness are also presented.
The Air & Surface Transport Nurses Association is a nonprofit member organization whose mission is to advance the practice of transport nursing and enhance the quality of patient care through commitment to safety and education.
