Call for Volunteers: Education, Publications, Simulation and Assessment Committees (Whew!)

Call for ASTNA Publications Committee Member(s)

ASTNA is seeking individuals to serve as members of the ASTNA Publications Committee.  The Committee provides advice and guidance to the ASTNA Board of Directors regarding the development and maintenance of ASTNA publication product lines. The Committee provides general oversight of ASTNA publications, including evaluation of existing publications and sales data, recommendations for revision and maintenance of publication product lines, investigation of opportunities for new publications, review and revision of ASTNA position statements, and identification and recommendation of editors for publications.

Committee Meetings

The committee meets twice yearly, once prior to the Air Medical Transport Conference (AMTC) and once prior to the Critical Care Transport Medicine Conference (CCTMC), and via teleconference (generally quarterly or more often as needed).

Qualifications

  • Current membership in ASTNA
  • Active involvement in critical care transport nursing
  • Publications or educational content development experience
  • Exposure to publications budgeting/finances, marketing, and development/production processes preferred
  • Commitment to participate in in-person committee meetings (Saturday/Sunday prior to conferences) and teleconference meetings
  • Commitment to participate in committee projects as assigned by the Chair.


Charges

  • Coordinates ASTNA publishing activities,  including monitoring of sales and marketing initiatives
  • Recommends editors to the Board of Directors for ASTNA publications
  • Oversees regular review and revision of ASTNA publications
  • Advises and assists the ASTNA Board with setting publishing priorities
  • Identifies and maintains publishing standards for ASTNA publications
  • Promotes and encourages research and publication in topics of interest to ASTNA members
  • Reviews and recommends creation of and revisions of position statements

Publications Committee Application

Call for ASTNA Education Committee Members

ASTNA is seeking qualified individuals to serve as members of the ASTNA Education Committee. The Committee provides advice and guidance to the ASTNA Board of Directors on matters related to maintaining continuing competency of its members in accordance with ASTNA’s Strategic Plan. This includes oversight of course subcommittees, responsibility for establishing development and operational strategies for new and existing courses, identification of trends and developments in training and education for critical care transport nurses, and development of standards to measure course efficiency and effectiveness. The committee also provides general oversight of ASTNA courses, including development of relevant policies and procedures for course operations, recommendations for new courses and revision cycles for existing courses, and identifying and recommending directors and/or subcommittee members for specific ASTNA courses.

  • Provide general oversight of ASTNA courses, including development of policies and procedures for course operations and establishing development and operational strategies for new and existing courses
  • Recommend course directors and/or subcommittee members for ASTNA courses to the Board of Directors
  • Develop standards to measure course efficiency and effectiveness
  • Promote and encourages investigation of education topics of interest to ASTNA members

Call for ASTNA Simulation Committee Members

ASTNA is seeking qualified individuals to serve as members of the ASTNA Simulation Subcommittee, a subcommittee to the Publications Committee. This group provides general oversight of ASTNA simulation products, including the development and review of simulations that will be used in various resources.

Committee Meetings

The committee meets quarterly via teleconference call, with topic-specific subgroups meeting more frequently as needed. No in-person meetings are anticipated.

Qualifications

  • Current membership in ASTNA
  • Active involvement in critical care transport nursing
  • Exposure to simulation usage procedures and trends in simulation development preferred
  • Ability and commitment to attend and participate in teleconference meetings

Simulation Committee Application

Call for ASTNA Assessment Committee Member(s)

ASTNA is seeking qualified individuals to serve as members of the ASTNA Assessment Committee. The Committee provides general oversight of ASTNA assessment products, including development and review of assessments that support ASTNA’s courses and publications, evaluates the market for new assessment-based products to support member maintenance of certification, and develops and reviews assessment-based products for examination preparation.

Committee Meetings

The committee meets quarterly via teleconference call, with product-specific subgroups meeting more frequently as needed. No in-person meetings are anticipated.

Qualifications

  • Current membership in ASTNA
  • Active involvement in critical care transport nursing
  • Education content and test development experience
  • Exposure to certification testing procedures and trends in assessment development preferred
  • Ability and commitment to attend and participate in teleconference meetings

Charges
 

  • Coordinates ASTNA assessment product development activities, including monitoring of sales and marketing initiatives for standalone assessment products.
  • Recruits and recommends project editors for standalone assessment products to the Board of Directors for ASTNA.
  • Recruits and supervises training of authors of assessment-based products.
  • Oversees regular review and evaluation of assessment-based products.
  • Identifies and maintains best practice test development principles and policies for ASTNA assessment-based products.
  • Coordinates with ASTNA Publications and Education Committees to develop assessment-based products that support and/or complement new and existing publications and courses.
  • Monitor trends in initial certification and maintenance of certification for critical care transport professionals.
