| ASTNA LAUNCHES THE ACADEMY OF AIR & SURFACE TRANSPORT NURSES (AASTN) NEWS FROM THE AIR & SURFACE TRANSPORT NURSES ASSOCIATION FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Aurora, Colorado (February 9, 2022). The Air & Surface Transport Nurses Association (ASTNA) announces the launch of the Academy of Air & Surface Transport Nurses. The ASTNA Fellowship program will annually bestow an honorary recognition upon exceptional critical care transport nurse members who have made enduring and substantial contributions that have had significant impact and continue to advance the critical care transport nursing profession. Those who are named ASTNA Fellows are committed to contributing continued leadership and service to the critical care transport community. The AASTN functions under the authority of the Air & Surface Transport Nurses Association (ASTNA) Board of Directors. The official logo, seal, use of FAASTN following name and pin reflect the status and inclusion of the AASTN within the ASTNA organizational structure. ASTNA President, Kelley Holdren RN, BSN, CFRN, said, “The ASTNA Fellowship program was created to honor those individuals in the nursing transport industry that have made and continue to make substantial contributions to the transport nursing role. The ASTNA Fellow recognition allows us to celebrate those individuals that have selflessly shared their leadership, knowledge and contributions both past and present. We are honored to have such a recognition and celebrate those individuals.” ASTNA values long-time volunteers and highly engaged members for their contributions to our shared profession. The ASTNA Fellowship program is among ASTNA’s highest honors, recognizing individuals who have made a significant impact on the critical care transport industry through exemplary volunteer service and leadership, extraordinary accomplishments, or other major contributions to ASTNA and the transport industry. The ASTNA Fellowship program is an honorary recognition and a call to continued leadership and service. “The Academy is the first of its kind for our unique role as transport nurses. It is an opportunity to recognize those who have made a significant impact both on the industry, and those for whom we provide care to.
